25 weeks and a 2 year check up
Pregnancy Highlights
How far along: 25 weeks.
Size of Baby Pax: About the size of a rutabega (I had to look this one up!). Weighs about 1.5 lbs and measures about 13.5 inches.
Maternity clothes: All maternity shorts, dresses and long shirts. Baby has come out of my pelvis and cause my belly to pop out!
Gender: Didn't find out!
Names: Girl- Paxley JoyAnna Golden
Boy- Paxton John Calvin Golden
Getting Ready:
- Going to use Halynd's crib bedding if a girl.
- Got a neutral hospital outfit.
- Donovan actually looked at baby clothes with me! (Boy ones of course)
- Cleaned all the carpets! Will do again in November :)
Goals:
- Stock up on Newborn-Size 2 diapers.
- Find a couple more cute neutral outfits.
- Make "Pax" beanie for hospital.
Movement: Starting to get hiccups. If I lean on my belly and happen to squish Pax, that baby sure tells me!
Sleeping: Depends. Some nights I sleep great. Other nights I wake often and am very uncomfortable.
What I miss: Peanut butter! (Causes major heartburn!)
Cravings: Lots of fresh fruits and veggies. French fries dipped in vinegar!
Symptoms: Still having random bouts of lower back/pelvic pain. May talk to my doctor about SPD-when your pelvic bones are not aligned an cause a lot of pain during pregnancy. The cure-giving birth :)
Woke up with leg cramps for the first time :) Yay!
Weight Gained: Gained 22 pounds. Only one pound this week!
Due Date: November 27, 2011
Next Dr. Appt.: Wednesday, August 17, 2011 @2:45 for the Glucose Test.
A certain two year old little girl had her check up on Friday. She went with daddy and loved every second of time they got to spend together. She weighed in at a whopping 23.6 lbs and is 30 inches tall. She is in the 3rd percentile for her age (25 months). She got two shots and a finger prick.
The finger prick allowed us to learn that she is anemic. I don't know if it runs in the family, but I am borderline anemic and Malachi was anemic when he was younger. This can be a tricky situation because Iron is an essential mineral in the production of red blood cells. And red blood cells are very important as they deliver oxygen to the entire body! With a low supply of red blood cells, the body has a hard time growing and can cause behavior issues.
The doctor just recommended that we give her Flintstones with Iron and a little bit of orange juice every morning and to come for a recheck in 3 months. We were giving her the Flintstone vitamin with Immunity support, but we made the switch Saturday morning. She also recommended only giving her about 16 ounces of milk a day because the calcium in the milk can cause iron to be depleted. So far-we're doing just what the doctor ordered. I'm going to be adding a few more helpings of iron rich foods into her diet such as more eggs, peanut butter, hummus and oatmeal. She already eats these, but will be eating them more often!
She is advanced in her vocabulary, as 2 year olds are "supposed to" only say 2-3 word sentences. This girl will talk you in circles with sentences. She is developmentally on target-she knows her Abc's and recognizes what letters are. She can count to 10 (with help past 5). She runs, jumps, hops, skips, and climbs (everything). She is quite skilled with a crayon and loves to draw with markers. I am randomly finding notebooks and calendars with her "writings" all over them. We are learning where it is apropriate to color. She still has random bouts of "two year old behavior". But she is becoming reasonable. The biggest struggles with her right now are walking in stores instead of riding in the cart, walking in parking lots and refusing to hold our hand, sitting still for longer than 3 minutes and potty training. Ohhhhh, the potty training. She. Is. Stubborn.
