It's a Golden Life

So Malachi has developed a funny sense of humor.. He's actually very funny and amusing. He makes us laugh every day!! He even has a new smile that he gives you when he thinks something is extra funny. Its a scrunched nose, toothy grin that makes your heart melt. He also will dance to music, whatever kind it may be, where ever he is! He just loves to dance. He even started putting his arms in the air and twirling, much like a ballerina does! Donovan and I are both doing pretty good! Nothing new to report!

So, we found out some very exciting news over Thanksgiving-I'm pregnant! To those of you we haven't told personally yet-sorry, and consider this your personal announcement!! So, sometime in July, we will add another to the Golden fam!

So whoever said that childproof cabinet locks are actually, in any way, childproof is definately-wrong! I walk into the bathroom, mind you I had 5 minutes previous-cleaned it, and to my wonder and delight, my little man is sitting on the floor with his head leaning against the wall drinking his sippy cup, binky in hand, as if he was exhauseted. The half a roll of toilet paper was sitting in a neat pile on the floor, instead of it's designated ROLL. Dryer sheets lay around him. The "locked" cabinet belongings were placed in appropriate spots all over the floor. He stands up, smiles and hands me the sunblock with a "could you open this so I can squirt it all over the walls?" look. Of course I laughed at him, picked everything up, again, and SHUT the door!

Halloween! Yes, I realized how pointless it was to take out a one year old, who can't understand "trick or treating" or dressing up. But I thought he looked pretty stinkin cute. He had fun! Instead of getting candy from the people handing it out, he left mom and dad looking like dum dums holding a batman head while their son checked out the shrubbery! He would've rather played in the leaves and bushes than get candy! What a kid-

So, I know this little kid. He is pretty amazing. You'd think that by one year old, a child would know so much! But you don't stop to think that-hey there's a whole lot to know in this life. I didn't realize how much knowledge is in this world~! This little kid continues to amaze me everyday with new personality perks. I thought that he would be.."just like mom, or just like dad" but he's really not. He is his own person. Although I think he looks cute in all the clothes I put on him, he really doesn't give a darn. He would be naked for all he cared. I tested this concept the other morning. Down here in Arkansas we are having some pretty not so ordinary November weather. Just when we thought it would snow- it's almost 80 degrees. So I took Malachi out to check the mail-in just a diaper and he didn't mind the extra breeze.The fact of the matter is that he doesn't care what kind of clothes he has on, the brand of his shoes or even the brand ...

We also had the opportunity to go to an old hotel called the Oklahoma Row. The very first picture is of what the hotel looked like before it burned down. The story is pretty neat! If you have some free time, check out google's information on Monte Ne, AR. Anyways, There wasn't always just one hotel, there were three altogether along a resort strip right outside of Rogers. They were log hotels! The man who built the hotels wanted the area to get a sight of the wonders of the world, so he was in the process of building these, when the stock market crash of 1929 happened. Needless to say, after a few years of struggling, he sold the hotel and it became many more things after that. In 1964, when the Beaver Lake was made, the water washed into where the hotels were, so the basements are underwater! The only building left is the concrete slab from where the rest of the hotel was and this awesome tower! I can only imagine how beautiful the hotel once was! In the picture, to the far le...

Last week, we went on a hike to Devil's Den. It is a trail with lots of hills, turns and CAVES!! I've been in the Mark Twain cave in Missouri-but that was on a guided tour! I'd never been cave splunking on my own....and with a child strapped to my back! We had a blast. We started off with me carrying Malachi in his handy jeep carrier, then climbing through a dark, cold, damp cave! Donovan lead the way with a flashlight because it was sooo dark! Then we hit the trial again and climbed a few rocky hills to the second cave! This was a much more difficult cave than the first one. We breezed through the first one, but not this one! We had to scale down the side. Needless to say, Daddy took over Chi Chi duty. We were only able to go a little ways into this one because in order to go the rest of the way, we needed to squeeze..sideways..through a little crack-in the ceiling!!
